Frugalpac introduces innovative Frugal Cup Linerless

UK-based manufacturer of easily recyclable paper-based packaging, Frugalpac, has added another innovative option to its market-leading range of sustainable coffee cups, introducing the Frugal Cup Linerless.
Seven months after the launch of the Frugal Cup, the UK’s first fully recyclable coffee cup made of recycled paper, Frugalpac has revealed its Frugal Cup Linerless, offering new and existing customers even more sustainable products to choose from.

Made from virgin paper, sourced entirely from sustainably accredited forests, the Frugal Cup Linerless is specially treated with a unique coating and binding agent which makes it suitable for hot and cold drinks while still allowing the pulp to easily break down during the standard paper recycling process.

Around 2.5 billion coffee cups are used and thrown away each year in the UK, however according to widely published statistics – such as those from the BBC’s Reality Check – less than 0.25% of these are currently recycled. In line with Frugalpac’s objective to become the number one replacement for all coffee cups on the UK market, both the original Frugal Cup and the new Linerless edition have been suitably designed for depositing in any paper recycling bin, unlike difficult to recycle cups, the large majority of which end up in landfill or incineration.
Paul McReynolds, Head of Sales and Marketing at Frugalpac, states: “We’re delighted to be able to reveal our latest development, the Frugal Cup Linerless, as an additional alternative to the majority of difficult-to-recycle coffee cups. We’re committed to supporting a circular economy and through our continuous innovation we aim to place Frugalpac at the forefront of sustainable packaging.”

The Frugal Cup Linerless, developed using Frugalpac’s innovative manufacturing technology as seen with the popular original Frugal Cup, is available in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz sizes, with the option to either create a bespoke branded cup or an original Frugalpac design, offering operators complete flexibility.
The latest development comes just after Frugalpac revealed its new Frugal Lid, a pulp molded paper lid which utilises dry-in-place technology and sustainable wood fibre which aims to further reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.
